Plans for the inaugural Women in Television Summit are underway. A partnership between Women in Entertainment (WIE) and the Television Academy Foundation, the initiative will “bring together preeminent intersectional leaders in television for a series of discussions centered on case-histories and best practices in the television industry,” according to Deadline. The day-long event will be held in North Hollywood on May 21.
While participants have yet to be announced, the summit is set to include panels and Q&As with particular attention paid to “stories of success” and “highlighting those who have challenged the status quo” and “championed inclusivity” within the TV industry.
“This is a watershed moment. We are thrilled to bring our content to life with a program dedicated to television,” said Gretchen McCourt, Co-Founder of WIE.
Her fellow Co-Founder, Renee Rossi, added, “Creating these events and inspiring one another is the most valuable thing that WIE can do for the future. Helping women channel their strength is crucial, and we are thrilled to advance the conversation about women in television.”
