The Writers Guild of America, East (WGAE) is addressing workplace safety. As “part of its commitment to ensuring members can work in an environment free of harassment or discrimination,” WGAE has launched the WGAE Safe Workplace Helpline, a press release announced.
“If a WGAE member is experiencing any form of harassment or discrimination at work, they can call the WGAE Safe Workplace voicemail helpline at 1-212-767-7853 or email us at safeworkplace@wgaeast.org,” the release details. The information provided will remain confidential. After the report is reviewed, a Guild representative will contact the member who filed it in “a timely manner.”
The voicemail helpline and email are overseen by Ann Burdick, General Counsel for the WGAE, and Marsha Seeman, WGAE’s Assistant Executive Director.
“The launch of the WGAE Safe Workplace Helpline puts in place a secure voicemail and email address for members to confidentially contact Guild staff and report any harassment or discrimination. The helpline is part of the Guild’s expansive initiative to provide our 7,000 members with the tools, resources, and education needed to work in a safe and tolerant environment. The Guild’s Safe Workplace plan goes hand-in-hand with our commitment to making media more inclusive for women and people of color,” said Lowell Peterson, Executive Director of the WGAE.
