You’re Invited: Join W&H at Berlinale 2019 for Talk About Women Creating Change in the Biz

If you’re attending the Berlin International Film Festival this year, then make sure to mark February 9 on your calendar. That day Women and Hollywood — along with Time’s Up, 5050×2020, and Mothersucker — is hosting a discussion on how women are making the entertainment industry more inclusive. To be held from 2-4pm, the talk is entitled “How Women in the Industry Are Pushing for Change.”

The conversation will cover the progress that has been made since the launch of Time’s Up as well as the work that needs to be done in the future. The event is free and open to the public but space is limited, so be sure to register ASAP via Eventbrite.

Berlinale 2019 will feature several other events focusing on gender equality, diversity, and inclusion in film. On February 8, Women and Hollywood Founder and Publisher Melissa Silverstein, with Chairwoman of Pro Quote Film Barbara Rohm, will moderate a round table of women’s organizations attending the Berlinale. Featuring a keynote address by Anna Serner, CEO of the Swedish Film Institute, the round table will provide networking opportunities and address what women in media can do to make the entertainment industry a more welcoming, gender-balanced place. This event is by invite only. If you’re interested in attending but did not receive an invitation, please contact post@proquote-film.de to request one.

Also on February 9 is “Gender, Genre and Big Budgets,” hosted in part by WIFT Germany. It will kick off with Berlinale director Dieter Kosslick signing the Gender Parity Pledge, which commits the fest to better gender representation and transparency by the year 2020. This event is free for accredited visitors and WIFT members but costs 15€ for members of the public. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.

“Upgrade Your Mind – Why Gender and Diversity Belong Together” will be held on February 10 and presented in English and German. The panel is organized by Pro Quote Film.

Event details are below. Head over to the fest’s website to check out more offerings.

Berlinale will run February 7-17.
