YouTube Premium Orders Comedy About the Birth of a Female Friendship

Tenea Intriago will star: Instagram

A platonic love story is headed to YouTube Premium. Variety reports that the streaming service snagged a half-hour comedy series from AwesomenessTV that charts the birth of a female friendship.

Starring Tenea Intriago (“Law & Order: SVU”) as Kat and Alexia Dox (“Quick Draw”) as June, the show’s working title is “Kat & June Think Stuff!” The six-episode series chronicles a “strange but beautiful female friendship,” and “the hopes, dreams, and fears — but mostly fears — of the duo are heard out loud.”

Sasheer Zamata (“Saturday Night Live”) has a supporting role in the project, which is created and written by Mackenzie Yeager (“All Night,” “Girl Meets World”). The latter will serve as showrunner alongside Jen Braeden (“Awkward”).

Production on the series kicked off this week. A premiere date has yet to be announced.

YouTube Premium also has a dark comedy starring Kirsten Dunst on the way. “On Becoming a God in Central Florida” sees the “Beguiled” actress playing a water park employee who becomes a high-ranking member of a pyramid scheme.
