More good news for Bettina Oberli’s “My Wonderful Wanda.” After making history as the first woman-directed film to open Zurich Film Festival, the comedy has secured North American distribution from Zeitgeist Films in association with Kino Lorber. A press release announced the news.
Penned by Oberli and German author and dramatist Cooky Ziesche, “My Wonderful Wanda” tells the story of Wanda (Agnieszka Grochowska), “a Polish home care attendant to the patriarch of the wealthy Wegmeister-Gloor family. When an unexpected complication arises, buried family secrets come to light and arrangements are made to try and appease everyone in this comedy of class warfare,” the film’s official synopsis hints.
“My Wonderful Wanda” made its world premiere at Tribeca Film Festival, where it received a special jury mention in the Nora Ephron Award category. A release is being planned for spring 2021.
“The Wind Turns,” “Lovely Louise,” and “The Murder Farm” are among Oberli’s other features.
