Zoë Kravitz will soon be making Top Five lists and tracking down her ex-lovers. Variety reports the “Big Little Lies” actress has been tapped to star in the gender-swapped series adaptation of “High Fidelity.” The project landed a 10-episode order at Disney’s upcoming streaming service.
“High Fidelity” is a 1995 Nick Hornby novel; John Cusack starred in and co-wrote the 2000 film adaptation. Both stories center on a narcissistic record store owner who decides to reconnect with his ex-girlfriends and figure out what went wrong in their relationships. Kravitz’s mother, Lisa Bonet, co-starred in the film, which has become a cult classic since its release and is considered one of the best contemporary rom-coms..
Veronica West and Sarah Kucserka (“Bull”) wrote and created the new “High Fidelity.” They are among the series’ exec producers, as is Kravitz.
Kravitz played Bonnie in “Big Little Lies.” Expected in 2019, the buzzy HBO series’ entire second season will be directed by Andrea Arnold (“Fish Tank”). “Rough Night,” “Gemini,” and “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” are some of Kravitz’s more recent credits. You can see her next in “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald,” out November 16.
