According to Hollywood’s Black Renaissance, Zoe Saldana will produce a powerful feature documentary titled “Gone Missing.”

Saldana is producing along with her sisters Cisely and Mariel Saldana Nazario through their company Cinestar Pictures, along with Leslie Owens through Owen Media Group.

The doc will “explore the epidemic of missing and murdered indigenous women and girls of Canada. According to Owens, there are over 4,000 documented cases of women and girls who have disappeared or have been murdered across Canada during the past three decades. The doc will ask why this happens and what is being done to investigate and prevent the crimes. It will follow three key stories and feature voices of family members of the missing and murdered along with politicians and community leaders.”

Saldana can next be seen in “Star Trek Beyond,” which opens July 22. She took on a producing project back in 2011, the Paramount supernatural thriller “Dominion,” but that project doesn’t seem to have advanced beyond the initial announcement, which would make “Gone Missing” her film production debut.
