Announcing the Athena Advertising Awards

The Athena Film Festival has partnered with The 3% Movement to launch the Athena Advertising Awards, a press release has announced. This new venture celebrates advertising that depicts strong, bold women from all walks of life, recognizing marketing messages infused with ambition, courage, resilience, and moxie. The inaugural ceremony will be held November 3, 2017 at The 3% Conference in New York City.

Any North American brand that has produced work featuring bold, courageous women since January 1, 2016 is eligible to compete. The award categories are: Film, Digital/Mobile, Social Marketing, Print, Events/Experiential, and Integrated Campaigns. The winning campaigns from each category will be screened at the Athena Film Festival in February 2018.

Submissions are now open and will close September 8, 2017. Please visit the Athena Film Fest website to enter the competition and find out more.

Co-founded by Women and Hollywood’s Founder and Publisher, Melissa Silverstein, The Athena Film Festival is an annual event honoring courageous and audacious women in real life and the fictional world, screening feature films, documentaries, and shorts. This upcoming fest will be held February 22–25, 2018 at Barnard College in New York City.

The 3% Movement was established to bolster female creative directors. Before the organization began, women comprised only three percent of all creative directors in the U.S. According to its website, “Through a mix of content, community and professional development, [The 3% Movement] helped raise the number of female CDs to 11 percent while giving agencies a clear road map of ways to champion female creative talent and leadership.” Check out The 3% website to learn more about the organization and its conferences.
