Two of England’s finest actors will share the stage at the 2022 SAG Awards. A press release announced that Kate Winslet is set to present Helen Mirren with the 57th SAG Life Achievement Award. The two co-starred in 2016’s “Collateral Beauty.”
The Life Achievement Award is given annually to an actor who fosters the “finest ideals of the acting profession.” Previous recipients include Carol Burnett, Rita Moreno, and Ruby Dee.
“To date, Mirren is the most decorated SAG Life Achievement recipient with a total of 13 SAG Awards nominations and five SAG Award Actor wins,” the press release notes. Also an Oscar winner, Mirren took home the Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in 2007 for “The Queen.” She received nods for “The Last Station,” “Gosford Park,” and “The Madness of King George” as well. The four-time Emmy winner has landed honors for “Prime Suspect: The Final Act,” “Elizabeth I,” “The Passion of Ayn Rand,” and “Prime Suspect: The Scent of Darkness.”
Mirren’s more recent credits include “F9: The Fast Saga” and “Catherine the Great.” She’s set to portray Golda Meir, Israel’s first and only female prime minister, in “Golda.”
Winslet was last seen in her Emmy-winning role in “Mare of Easttown.” The Oscar winner has received 13 SAG Awards nominations and won three SAG Awards. Her upcoming slate includes “Lee,” Ellen Kuras’ biopic of model and war correspondent Elizabeth “Lee” Miller, and “Avatar 2.”
