Patricia Clarkson is reuniting with her “Cairo Time” and “October Gale” director. She is set to topline “Gray,” a spy thriller series helmed by Ruba Nadda. “Game of Thrones” actress Nathalie Emmanuel will also star in the project, Variety confirms.
Hailing from AGC Television and Lionsgate, “Gray” will see Clarkson portraying CIA spy Cornelia Gray, “who is coming in from the cold after 20 years in hiding, dodging the government agents who suspected her of being a traitor,” per the source. “She returns to her old life just as it is discovered that there is a new mole within her old spy network putting her and her network in jeopardy.”
Clarkson is among “Gray’s” producers.
Filming is expected to begin early next year.
Clarkson starred in and Nadda directed 2009’s “Cairo Time” and 2014’s “October Gale.” The former is an Egypt-set romance and the latter a thriller. Features “Sabah” and “I Always Come to You” and episodes of “Frankie Drake Mysteries” and “Manifest” are among Nadda’s other credits.
You can catch Clarkson next in Season 2 of couples counseling series “State of the Union,” due later this year. The two-time Emmy winner’s upcoming slate also includes “She Said,” Maria Schrader’s take on how journalists Megan Twohey and Jodi Kantor broke the Harvey Weinstein story, and a biopic about fair whistleblower Lilly Ledbetter from Rachel Feldman.
Emmanuel played fan favorite Missandei on “Game of Thrones” from 2013 to 2019. Her other credits include Mindy Kaling’s “Four Weddings and a Funeral” series, “The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance,” and the “Fast & Furious” franchise. She’ll appear next in zombie heist thriller “Army of Thieves,” premiering October 29 on Netflix.
