Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s winning year continues. The “Fleabag” and “Killing Eve” creator has been announced as this year’s recipient of the BAFTA LA Britannia Award for British Artist of the Year. Deadline confirmed the news.
Currently performing the original stage version of “Fleabag” in London, Waller-Bridge is best known for her small screen adaptation of the play on Amazon, on which she stars, and for creating BBC America spy sensation “Killing Eve.” Both series got lots of love when Emmy nominations were announced last month, including acting and writing nods for Waller’s work on “Fleabag.”
The multi-hyphenate worked on the script for upcoming James Bond pic “No Time To Die” and has an HBO series on the way. Titled “Run,” the comedic thriller tells the story of a family woman (Merritt Wever) underwhelmed by her humdrum existence. The opportunity to start life anew presents itself when her former lover (Domhnall Gleeson) contacts her in the hopes that she’ll make good on an old promise: the exes once agreed that they’d disappear together if either texted the word “run.” Waller-Bridge is working with long-time collaborator Vicky Jones on the project. She’s also writing a feature with plans to direct.

Scheduled to take place October 25 in LA, the Britannia Awards mark BAFTA’s biggest event outside of the UK. Jane Fonda will receive the night’s highest honor, the Stanley Kubrick Britannia Award for Excellence in Film.
