Kitchen disasters and guests sharing bizarre conspiracy theories are enough to sabotage most Christmas dinners, but they’re the least of Keira Knightley’s worries in “Silent Night,” a doomsday-themed holiday comedy. Camille Griffin’s directorial debut sees Nell (Knightley) reuniting with friends and family to celebrate Christmas in a picturesque country home. Meanwhile, the apocalypse is just around the corner. The world is ending, but the partygoers won’t let imminent destruction and extinction spoil their fun time.
“Here’s to the lives that we’ve shared, to our beautiful children, our beautiful friends. May we rest in peace,” Nell says in a new trailer for the pic.
“I hope the film asks us to consider how we treat the planet, children, and society so can we do any better. All the big questions no one likes to think about,” Griffin told us.
A two-time Oscar nominee, Knightley received nods for “The Imitation Game” and “Pride & Prejudice.” Last seen in Philippa Lowthorpe’s “Misbehaviour,” her upcoming slate includes “Boston Strangler,” a drama about the reporter who broke the story of the famed killer.
Penned by Griffin, “Silent Night” hits theaters and starts streaming exclusively on AMC+ December 3. The film’s ensemble cast includes Annabelle Wallis (“Peaky Blinders”) and Lily Rose-Depp (“Voyagers”).
