Eva Longoria has lined up another high profile directing gig. The “Desperate Housewives” alumna is already signed on to direct “24/7,” a re-imagined version of “9 to 5” at Universal, and “Flamin’ Hot,” a Fox Searchlight biopic about Richard Montanez, the janitor who created the spicy Cheetos snack, and now word comes that she’ll direct and co-star in “Spa Day,” a Sony Pictures action comedy. Variety broke the news.
Penned by “Telenovela” creators Christine Pietrosh and Jessica Goldstein, plot details for “Spa Day” are being kept under wraps. Longoria is among the project’s producers.
“Spa Day” marks a reunion for Longoria, Pietrosh, and Goldstein. Longoria appeared in “Telenovela,” served as an exec producer, and directed an episode of the NBC sitcom. “Black-ish,” “The Mick,” and “Jane the Virgin” are among her other directing credits. She guest starred on the latter.
Best known for her Golden Globe-nominated role as Gabrielle in “Desperate Housewives,” Longoria’s acting credits also include “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” and “Empire.”
