Eva Longoria Will Lead CNN+’s “Searching for Mexico”

Longoria in "Empire"

Meet your new, multi-talented tour guide: Eva Longoria. The “Desperate Housewives” alumna and “Black-ish” director is set to headline “Eva Longoria: Searching for Mexico,” an offshoot of CNN’s “Stanley Tucci: Searching for Italy,” Deadline reports.

Set to launch in 2022, the six-part CNN+ docuseries will follow Longoria “as she travels across Mexico exploring the country’s cuisine,” on a journey that sees her visiting “various regions including Oaxaca, where she’ll slow cook traditional mole sauce” and “harvesting blue agave for tequila as the Aztecs once did,” the source teases.

“Partnering with CNN on a culinary-driven expedition throughout Mexico is a dream come true. I am so proud of my Mexican American roots and can’t wait to bring the hidden gems of Mexico to the world through ‘Searching for Mexico,’” said Longoria. “I am a huge fan of Stanley’s journey throughout Italy; he set the bar high, and I can’t wait for everyone to fall in love with the magic of Mexico.”

Longoria is among the project’s exec producers. Recently seen on-screen in “Sylvie’s Love,” the actress, producer, and director has a number of projects in the pipeline including “24/7,” a re-imagined version of “9 to 5” at Universal, and “Flamin’ Hot,” a Fox Searchlight biopic about Richard Montanez, the janitor who created the spicy Cheetos snack. She’s directing both pics and starring in the former.
